Chapter 21.1:

RODNEY DINING FRESH FOOD COMPANY

It's right under the new Caesar Rodney Hall on Academy, opened in September 2015Hey, don’t you dare call this a “dining hall.” UD really, really, wants you to call this thing the “Rodney Dining Fresh Food Company,” because they think “Dining Hall” implies swill being served to prisoners or something. And this thing ain’t anything like the “old” Rodney.

I should think the newer UD kids will just call this thing “Rodney,” unless they come up with some other nickname, like “R to the D to the Double F’in C.”

Anyway, we’re gonna call it for now new Rodney, and yes, it’s true, it’s way, way beyond what us former residents of Dickinson and (old) Rodney knew and ate at.

Opened September 2015, and sitting right under the new Caesar Rodney Hall on Academy Street, this thing has 1,180 seats, which makes it one of the biggest dining halls (whoops!) in the known universe or something.

And it’s got lots of cooked-right-in-front-of-you stations and healthy (why?) options and stuff, including a Mongolian station, a gluten-free station, a vegan station, an OU supervised kosher dining station, a PlayStation, a claymation station, an inebriation station, a gamma radiation station, and I’d hope some kind of station that serves normal food.

Anyway, the next time I visit campus, definitely plan on buying my way in for a meal. Hey, the Rodney Dining Fresh Food Company…it puts the “Fresh” in “Freshmen!”
